Webinar Series - COVID-19 Vaccination: Overcoming Access and Acceptance Obstacles with Older Adults March 22, 2021 | Safety Vaccination against COVID-19 is essential to protect millions of older people, particularly those who have chronic health conditions, reside in long-term care facilities, or belong to communities of color, but the vaccine rollout is facing significant problems with both access and acceptance. Some communities and individuals are rejecting vaccination because of safety concerns, while many more who are eager to be vaccinated are disadvantaged by the complexity, disorganization, and technological failures in the distribution process, from crashing websites and malfunctioning hotlines to language barriers and lack of devices or internet access. Millions of older people would benefit from educational outreach and direct logistical and technological support, which would also help drive the broader societal goal of comprehensive vaccination. Presented by Grantmakers In Aging, Generations United, and the American Federation for Aging Research, and sponsored by The John A. Hartford Foundation, this webinar series will address messaging, access, transportation, technology and the science around the vaccine.
